I’m 58 years old and a mother of three. I was married for 35 years until, in January 2024, I lost my husband—my best friend—to a massive heart attack right in front of me. Losing him left me lost beyond words. He was our only income, and I fell into a dark place of depression and substance use.
For months, I didn’t want to live.
I felt abandoned and angry. I was homeless, living in my truck. But through my kids’ love and God’s grace, I found help. When I met a program coordinator here, she gave me a chance that changed everything. She made me feel human again.
Being given a place to live made all the difference. I went from loneliness and hopelessness to having purpose and gratitude again. I thank God every day for this opportunity and for everyone who makes this community possible.
